drinkers! Made from the same grapes grown for port. Good ripe fruit with a hint
of spice not unlike Shiraz.

Africa - Red Wines
South
Africa has been producing wine for many years but there has always been a
tendency to rely on common bulk grapes. Since the re-opening to world markets in
the Mandela era, the country has enjoyed access to consumers who have demanded
wines made from noble European varietals. With quality grape production such a
small proportion of the whole (only 18%) it is hardly surprising that there is
now a shortage of such wine. Fortunately such scarcity is not yet reflected in
prices demanded by the various producers.
