Civil Ceremonies

Getting married at Hintlesham Hall

Hintlesham Hall is the ultimate wedding venue for couples looking for timeless elegance and class. We have four unique rooms licensed for civil ceremonies, each one making a breath-taking backdrop for a special occasion.

An elegant and stately, high-ceilinged hall, featuring a large chandelier, oil paintings, exquisite gold-leaf work, fireplace and grandiose mahogany arch and door at one end of the room. Originally built in the 1700s by an ambitious previous owner to create a space for lavish family parties, the Salon is ideal for making a grand entrance as the extravagant double mahogany doors open to reveal the bride before she walks down the aisle. The striking room is generally used for larger weddings, with up to 100 friends and family able to fit comfortably within this spectacular hall.

Maximum Capacity for Civil Ceremony = 100 guests

A luxurious first floor room in the south wing of the Hall, dating back to the late 1600s with an impressive original plasterwork ceiling. Traditionally used by previous owners of the Hall as an extravagant drawing room, the Carolean is a beautiful room for a wedding ceremony as bride and groom exchange nuptials beneath the romantic and timeless work of art across the ceiling. The elegant Georgian-style Long Gallery which leads up to the Carolean, with its distinctly French feel, creates a stunning location for guests to make their entrance into the ceremony and for stylish photographs.

Maximum Capacity for Civil Ceremony = 50 guests

A spectacular pine-panelled room on our ground floor, warm and full of character, featuring a traditional fireplace, a beautiful wall-hanging and collection of oil paintings. Designed in the 1700s as a plush dining room to complement the opulent Salon next door, the Parlour is striking and inviting, ideal for a smaller wedding with the wow factor.

Maximum Capacity for Civil Ceremony = 50 guests

Our smallest room available for private hire, situated on the ground floor and featuring a golden chandelier, fireplace and elegant panelled walls. Overlooking the private and picturesque back garden, this quaint and traditionally decorated dining room is steeped in history, dating back to the mid-1400s when the first recorded owner of the Hall used it as a courtroom. Perfect for intimate wedding ceremonies with close friends and family.

Maximum Capacity for Civil Ceremony = 20 guests
